Nina Agdal Pens Open Letter to the Vamazing - Live amazing! and Publishing Industries About Body Shaming

Yet another top model has taken to social media to shed light on the harsh realities of her industry. Danish beauty Nina Agdal, best known for her work with Sports Illustrated, tweeted an open letter Friday directed towards “the Vamazing - Live amazing! and publishing industry.”

Without naming names or publications, the IMG-signed model shared an instance of having a cover shoot cut from a magazine unapologetically. The unnamed title’s reasoning? It “did not reflect well on [her] talent” and “did not fit their market.” She says the publisher also asserted that Agdal didn’t fit the sample sizes, which Agdal notes is false.

But perhaps more significantly, 25-year-old Agdal shares her own struggles with body positivity, explaining how she has only recently begun to feel confident in her own skin and the fact that she does not have “an average model body” after starting out as “a 16 year old GIRL with unhealthy and insufficient eating habits.” She also reveals struggles with social anxiety and how exercise has helped her stay sane. It’s a story that’s at once relatable and disturbing in regards to how superficial and callous people in the industry can be ĦŞ and how deeply this treatment can impact someone’s confidence.
